Since he was a child, dirt has been a big part of Aaron’s life. From the moment he celebrated his sixth birthday at the local Caterpillar dealership, it was clear that his childhood fascination with trucks and earthmovers would continue to flourish into adulthood...
Aaron broke into the construction industry by cold-calling the owner of Pierson Construction Corporation, a regional underground utility company. Despite his lack of experience, they hired Aaron as a laborer. One week after he graduated from high school, he was working in ditches with a pipe crew — a job he held throughout that summer and the next.
Eventually, Aaron reluctantly left ditch life behind, accepting a managerial position at Skanska, working for Union Pacific Railroad in the California desert. Before too long, he sought a change from the hot, dry climate, and spent his final summer of college managing a Kiewit blasting and quarrying operation near Mount Vernon, Washington.
After earning his engineering degree from Arizona State, Aaron relocated to Texas to work full-time in civil construction management. He soon realized the world of construction and heavy equipment was underrepresented on social media, which led to the creation of his @buildwitt Instagram account. The concept quickly caught on, and now the BuildWitt social media network reaches over a million people weekly from around the globe.
On the heels of this social-media success, Aaron launched BuildWitt Media Group to help contractors and mining companies use social platforms and marketing strategies to effectively market themselves, and the industry as a whole. BuildWitt is all about giving the people of construction and mining credit for their hard work, while inspiring the next generation.
What is this website?
The BuildWitt website is a diverse collection of companies, people, equipment, and stories from earthmoving projects across the US. Young people aren’t choosing construction or mining as careers, largely because they don’t know what these industries look like. We’re dispelling misconceptions, and putting a face to the hard work that keeps our great country moving forward. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
